GENERAL WINTERBALL INFORMATION
The
following leagues are a part of the NorCal Girls Softball
Organization: American River, Antelope Highlands,
Carmichael, Colfax, Cordova, Davis, Elk Grove, Five Cities,
Foothill, Gold Country, Lincoln, Natomas, Nevada County,
Placerville, Pocket, Rocklin, Sacramento, Sunrise, and
Woodland.
Winterball is a program that allows leagues
within the NorCal Organization to compete with one another.
For the past five years our league has grown in participation
in the Norcal Winterball program. It has been known that most
girls that participate in the Winterball program become a
stronger player in the Spring season.
Practices begin in August and games are
played on Saturday (14U/16U) and Sunday (8U/10U/12U) during
September and October.
During the Winterball season the 10U, 12U,
14U and 16U compete in a tournament in the beginning and end
of the season (see below for tentative dates). This is a true
tournament atmosphere. Your daughter will be involved in a fun
and exciting atmosphere throughout the Winter season. Families
must keep in mind that there is some traveling involved
throughout the season. Depending on which leagues are
associated with your division, you will be required to play
outside of our boundaries.
The NorCal Board has decided that the
following game days will be for the following divisions:
- Games for the 8U, 10U & 12U divisions
will be played on Sundays.
- Games The 14U & 16U divisions will play
on Saturdays.

MANAGERS/COACHES
All
coaches/managers that are interested in having a team must
submit their request via e-mail to Daryl Stogner at
dstogner12@yahoo.com.
Applications will be taken through July 15, 2008.
In the middle of July, notification of coach acceptance
will be given. Please keep in mind that the President and/or
Vice President can deny and/or approve all coaches interested.
The Norcal Mandatory Coaches Meeting will be held at the
end of July at Mills Middle School in Rancho Cordova. At least
one representative from each SGSL Winterball team must be
present. An additional League Coaches meeting will follow
approximately two weeks after the Norcal meeting.
TEAM FORMATION
- There is NO DRAFT process. You may
field a minimum number of players of 12 and maximum of 15.
- All players must have played in either the 2007 or 2008
spring seasons in the Sacramento Girls Softball League.
- If a player did not play in the 2007 or
2008 season with Sacramento Softball, and currently lives in
the SGSL boundaries then a "Letter of Intent"
must be completed, along with our 2009 spring registration
deposit ($85). Contact the Winterball Commissioner (Daryl
Stogner) for more information.
- Cost is $75 per player. This includes league
registration, uniforms, insurance fees, tournament costs,
umpire fees.
